Alec Receveur
President
I’ve always had a love for animals ever since I was a child. When I married Suzanne, I didn’t realize how much Suzanne loved animals until they started showing up in our home. After 37 years of marriage, our shared love of animals grew into something bigger than we ever expected. Over the years, Suzanne and I have rescued 15 dogs and some cats and 40 goldfish along the way.
Both Suzanne and I decided it was time to create a 501c3 non-profit sanctuary with the existing dogs we rescued. We want to provide a safe and secure place for abandoned dogs. It is our hope that, in the future, we can provide a loving place for more. We took on our 6th and 7th rescue in July 2024 and November 2024 which put us at the max at our residence.

I grew up in a home with dogs and cats which is why the love of animals carried on into my adulthood. The first dog that Alec and I had showed up on the doorstep the day we moved into our first house. As the years rolled on, we picked up other rescues along the way but usually only had between 2-3 dogs at one time. That grew to 3-5 dogs which grew to 6 then 7 dogs. We kept adopting dogs and our hearts got bigger.
I’ve always helped the local rescues by donating dog food or donating to help pay vet bills. However, I wanted to make so much more of a difference. It has always been my dream to have a dog sanctuary so that I can spread awareness of the issues and provide the much needed love the rescues need.

Amanda Green
Director-at-Large
As you can see above, I grew up in a home with a lot of animals. We even had some bearded dragon lizards and rescued tadpoles from a puddle. I love cats, dogs, and trash pandas.
I was blessed with my parents’ love for animals and saw how much good they were doing with their rescues. I decided to join in and rescued two dogs that needed some love. I also rescued 3 cats (1 just showed up) and 2 ferrets (who have since passed).
When my parents created Barxmore Acres, they asked me to join on as Volunteer Services Director. I served in this position for a year and then we decided that I was needed in a bigger role as a Director-at-Large. I will be able to help out where needed and be an ambassador for Barxmore Acres.
Now if only we could include Trash Pandas on the list of rescues.

Diana Swart
Outreach/Education Director
I grew up with a dog and later obtained a kitten. The kitten was found in a barn alone and very, very small. Later, I would eventually have more dogs and kitties including 3 separate kittens in 2025. I have a total of 15 dogs that I trapped and then rescued when they had no place to go.
I have been tracking and trapping for 9 yrs now. I trapped Chewbacca aka (Chewie) a Yorkie Mix in 2017. Chewie has seizures (which he is medicated for) but is such a delight and no one ever claimed him. I have several rescues and I have a real knack for locating lost dogs and reuniting them with their owners. I enjoy this because it helps the community and the lost pups. Jessica Lynn and I started fetch:Lost Dog Recovery in 2025 and have been very successful helping the surrounding nearby communities in WV,MD and PA find their lost pets. I look forward to being the Outreach and Education Director for Barxmore Acres.

Jesse Receveur
Volunteer
Jesse is a man of few words however he loves to play with the dogs.
He has been so helpful by walking, feeding and playing with the dogs that he has become an integral part of the dogs’ care. They have bonded with Jesse and seek him out when they want to play. He looks forward to other volunteers helping to walk the dogs with us.
When we created Barxmore Acres, we wanted to include our kids in hopes that they will continue on with the vision.
